The Colorado Division is offering the following information as a courtesy to insurance producers.

The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department has a requirement regarding the insurance policies for general liability that contractors must have for purposes of carrying and maintaining an active license and/or registration status with the Building Department. Pursuant to Section RBC201.7.2 of the 2023 Pikes Peak Regional Building Code, each policy of insurance must contain an endorsement to the effect that the insurance carrier shall notify the Building Department at least 10 calendar days in advance of the effective date of any reduction or cancellation of the policy.

Insurance producers have expressed concerns about whether insurers are willing to provide such an endorsement. However, the Building Department has informed the Division that the insurers Nationwide, Atlantic Casualty, CFC/Lloyds of London, West Congress, National Union Fire Insurance (Pittsburg), CAC Specialty, the Hartford and Upland Specialty have provided endorsements that satisfy the building department’s requirement.

Insurance producers with questions can contact the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department directly at 719-327-2880 or visit the Department’s website at pprbd.org.
