How to File Title Insurance Rates & Fees
Title Insurance Commission
The Commission will serve as an advisory body to the Insurance Commissioner, Michael Conway, concerning title insurance matters. The Commission’s duties will include proposing, advising and recommending rules for the administration of the business of title insurance, subject to approval by the Insurance Commissioner. The Division of Insurance (DOI), part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), will provide staffing and administration for the Title Insurance Commission.
The Colorado Office of Policy, Research and Regulatory Reform (COPRRR) is currently conducting a sunset review of the Title Insurance Commission as described in section 2-3-1203 of the Colorado Revised Statutes. Analysis is performed to determine if the Commission is necessary and should be continued or repealed. To provide input on this review, please visit the COPRRR "Participate in the Process" website.
Affiliated Business Disclosures
Section 10-2-401(6), C.R.S. requires every title entity disclose the names of all affiliated business arrangements to which the agent or the agency is a party. To accomplish this, the Division of Insurance created the Affiliated Business Arrangement Disclosure Form, which must be completed and submitted with the license application.
The Division has issued Bulletin number 1.22, which outlines the disclosure requirements. Every individual must complete the disclosure when obtaining a new license, renewing an existing license or within thirty (30) days of any changes to the disclosed affiliated business arrangement information. The Responsible Producer of an agency must complete the disclosure on behalf of the licensed agency.
The completed form should be faxed to 303-869-0537 (no cover sheet is necessary) or emailed to DORA_ins_compliance@state.co.us
