The Colorado Division of Insurance is currently seeking an applicant to fill a vacancy on the Workers' Compensation Classification Appeal Board. This is a volunteer board and anyone meeting the qualifications below is encouraged to apply.
The purpose of the Board is to hear grievances brought by employers against their workers’ compensation insurer concerning the calculation of experience modification factors and classification assignment decisions. The Board meets periodically, approximately 2-3 times per year.
The Board, as defined in C.R.S. § 8-55-101, consists of five voting members: two representatives of the insurance industry and three representatives of private employers.
The Board opening will be as of January 1, 2024. A qualified applicant must meet the following criteria.
- Be an employee of an insurance company that issues workers’ compensation policies in Colorado OR be an insurance agent licensed in Colorado
- Be knowledgeable about workers’ compensation insurance rules and classifications
- Be familiar with Colorado’s business environment
Specific information needed by Board members, such as classification definitions or applicable statutes, will be provided by the secretary of the Board.
