The Division will be hosting a stakeholder meeting regarding Unfair Discrimination in Insurance Practices, focusing on health insurance, on February 29, 2024, from 10:00 - 11:00 am MT. This meeting will kick-off stakeholder engagement around health insurance as part of the Division's ongoing implementation of Senate Bill 21-169 (SB21-169). Updates will also be provided on the Division's work related to life insurance underwriting and private passenger auto insurance underwriting.

In 2021, Governor Polis signed SB 21-169 into law, which protects Colorado consumers from insurance practices that result in unfair discrimination on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, gender identify, or gender expression, into law. The law directs the Insurance Commissioner to hold stakeholder meetings prior to the adoption of any rules.

Stakeholders can register for the February 29 meeting at the following link: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUsdeutrDMuHNChYcAf3OPYUlcrOp6Dz-nb.

Materials for all meetings (past and upcoming) will be available on the Division's SB21-169 - Protecting Consumers from Unfair Discrimination in Insurance Practices webpage.
