Colorado Out-of-Network Payment Methodology Work Group

House Bill 22-1284 established the Colorado Out-of-Network Payment Methodology Work Group, which is led by the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI). The work group is tasked with discussing ways to facilitate and streamline the implementation of Section 10-16-704 (13), C.R.S., which permits providers or facilities to request data from carriers to evaluate the carriers compliance in paying the highest rate required under Sections 10-16-704(3)(d) and 10-16-704(5.5)(b), C.R.S. 

HB 22-1284 instructs the work group to identify barriers to verifying the accuracy of payment amounts and develop recommendations to streamline implementation.

The legislation requires the work group to include equal numbers of representatives from hospitals, carriers, health-care providers directly affected by 10-16-704 (13), C.R.S and consumers. The work group will include two members from each group identified. Work group members are expected to commit 1-2 hours each month between November 2022 and April 2023 for related work and meetings.
