Special enrollment window will allow members to find new coverage.

DENVER - Salvasen Health policyholders across the U.S. should be aware that their coverage is terminating at the end of March. Because of this, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is allowing these policyholders the opportunity to enroll in individual health insurance plans in their states.

Here in Colorado, the Division of Insurance has established March 21 - May 31 as the enrollment window, called a special enrollment period (SEP). During this time, people will be able to choose new health coverage, including coverage in the individual market (meaning health plans that are not from an employer).

There are just over 400 Salvasen health plan members in Colorado. They can use this special enrollment period to shop for a new, individual health insurance plan through Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance exchange. Salvasen members can get help with enrollment in three ways.

  • Call Connect for Health Colorado’s customer service center: 855-752-6749, open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Visit their New Customers page for details on how to get started.
  • Visit the “We Can Help” page and get connected to a certified insurance broker or assister to help you with your choices.

Coverage selected through Connect for Health Colorado will become effective the first of the month after enrolling.

Members can also visit Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) or call 800-221-3943 to find out if they or their family are eligible for Medicaid.

Salvasen Health is suspending business as a number of states allege the company conducted insurance business without proper authority or licensing. People with questions regarding their existing coverage with Salvasen, including claims or regarding the termination of their coverage, can contact the company at 877-707-1442.
