DENVER - Michael Conway, Commissioner of Insurance for the Polis administration, has been appointed to serve on the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) panel of health advisers

“We are delighted Mike has been selected for this panel of advisers to the Congressional Budget Office and will bring Colorado’s focus on saving people money on health care to this group,” said Gov. Polis.

Under the Polis administration, Commissioner Conway has been instrumental in saving Coloradans money on health care through the development and implementation of the landmark bipartisan reinsurance program, the innovative Colorado Option, the prescription drug affordability board, and a variety of programs to help make quality health insurance more affordable and accessible for Coloradans.

The CBO discusses key healthcare issues with panel members and seeks their advice on developments in healthcare delivery, financing, studies, and research. Through these efforts, CBO analyses can benefit from the advisers’ understanding and expertise.

In selecting members for the panel, the CBO looks for widely recognized experts on the topic and seeks suggestions from Congressional staff and the people whose work the CBO uses in its analyses. The Office works to select panelists with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Commissioner Conway will serve a three-year term and can be reappointed at the end of that term, and will continue to serve as Colorado’s Insurance Commissioner.
